Safeguarding
Lutheran Church of Our Savior has carefully crafted a Best Practices Regarding Minors document that contains all of the guidelines for staff and volunteers that make our ministries as safe as possible. Motivated by Christ's kid commandment--"Let the little children come to me, and do not stop them; for it is to such as these that the kingdom of heaven belongs" (Matthew 19:14 NRSV)--we have created a system of safeguards so that parents may confidently entrust their kids to the care of our staff and volunteers. Children and youth are free to experience the love and devotion of Jesus in safety.
Our Best Practices Regarding Minors document was carefully crafted based upon the laws of the state of Ohio, the recommendations of the Southern Ohio Synod of the ELCA, legal counsel, and our insurance provider, but most of all the document was modelled after Christ's own primary concern for the physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being of children. The document is annually reassessed by our church's Youth Council in order to ensure that it is both up-to-date and in line with our faith committments. If you have any questions about the document, please do not hesitate to contact Dan Jacob, the Youth and Children's Ministries Coordinator.
